The SHARP Programme (Sensible, Healthy and Responsible People)
Future Steps
The SHARP Programme Office, run by Sapler, maintains contact with North West Education and Health Departments, who communicate with the Business Plan steering committee and their district offices.
The MEC for Education, in consultation with the DDG, accepts the proposal in principle.
A Joint Project steering committee of departmental officials including members of the Business Plan Steering committee and district master trainers to is established to review the proposal in consultation with SAPLER.
A revised proposal is presented to the MEC, which, if after scrutiny is accepted, is the basis for a contract drawn up by the Department between it and SAPLER.
SAPLER begins work on design and development of material and systems
The steering committee is re-established as a Joint Project Committee charged with oversight of the implementation of the project by SAPLER in partnership with NICDAM. The project proceeds on a phased roll-out according to the contract, subject to fulfilling performance indicators to the satisfaction of the committed as specified by the contract.
The SHARP Programme in liaison with district offices, canvass suitable local NGO/CBO partners if any, establish what community resources are in the district and where potential recruits may be found, including those with previous AIDS awareness and related training.
A plan for each district is drawn up, and agreed among the role players
Training, implementation, monitoring and evaluation require a multiplicity of tasks, responsibilities and oversight. The SHARP Programme Office maintains overall control. Most interactions take place among stakeholders at district level.
