WB00825_1.GIF (134 bytes) Overall evaluation by learners

Learners’ perceptions were overwhelmingly positive, with well over 80% agreeing or agreeing strongly with each of three positive statements about pioneers. A fourth statement ("the pioneer knows what it is like to be a young person today") drew slightly less support, but was still endorsed by 77% of learners.

Learners were also asked to write down what they liked about what the pioneer had taught them and what else they would like to learn. Here too, learners’ endorsement of the pioneers’ work was overwhelming. Among a very large number of positive comments, there were only five negative statements:

a29g1    "The sexuality education should relate to real life - not some fantasy."
i30g       "I didn’t like anything" [but this learner gave highly positive quantitative ratings]
i17g       "She was boring me I never liked her so much"
i15g       "I was afraid to talk to him"
m5g       "He was nice but sometime he didn’t tell us the truth, sometimes makes jokes"

Although some comments were rather vague expressions of liking for and support of the pioneer (g35g "is teaching very well"; i16g "The sapler pioneer was beautiful jolly nice adorable incredible creature I love her she taught me a lot better than I could remember"; g30g "Well I kind of liked the whole of her teaching. She is a really good teacher.

And to tell the truth I like her and love her teaching too"; g29g "I liked many things about the Sapler pioneer that I can’t explain them"), most learners were quite specific about what they liked about the pioneer’s personality, teaching style and the content of what was taught. This is discussed in more detail below.
