Community empowerment is needed 

AIDS and community mobilisation

South Africa, by treating HIV/AIDS as problem for health and education departments rather than a stimulus for a cultural revolution, is now faced with the possible premature death of one fifth of the adult population.   

The Education Department of North West Province is currently developing a much more flexible approach involving communities and community youth as sexuality educators in its secondary schools.

The Health Department is putting muscle into the AIDS Council system with a network of offices staffed fulltime, with computer facilities for officials and local organisations. Soon, this site can become a resource for your organisation to promote itself and communicate with stakeholders near and far.

This site hosts organisations who promote community-based action against  AIDS pandemic and the promotion of responsible teenage sexuality, family planning and the prevention of sexual abuse.
